PUZZLE

PUZZLE
What are the things that make YOU smile, what are the traits that make YOU fall in love with someone? What are YOUR passions?

I am feeling compelled to repeat myself with the topic of my previous post, as I know how hard it is to contemplate our own values and personal traits.

We don’t know who we are as individuals.

We were not taught to pay attention to our uniqueness, to define ourselves through what we love, what we like/dislike, and through our values or beliefs, so we improvise. We tend to copy the ones we think resonate with us in some kind of way, we accumulate things to sustain the image we’ve created, but barely stop to wonder… “Is this thing really for me? Are these things resonating with who I am?” OH… STOP!

Who am I?

What are the things that make me smile, what are the things that make me fall in love with someone? What are my passions?

It’s understandable to never even done such kind of introspection because we were never asked questions with the expectation for answers like these. Everywhere around us, from childhood till now, we were asked questions like: “What are you going to do when you grow up?”; “Are you going to be a lawyer?”…

And these questions didn’t allow us or  made us think of answers that have to do with your uniqueness, yourself.

I say we copy other people because it’s about having the same or better means of living with the ones we consider ourselves as being equal to through profession, social status, and family history. Well, it is understandable to want only the good stuff, when a certain social status is reached. Although this could also be debatable.

What I’m more intrigued by is why we put so much effort, time, by putting pressure upon ourselves to get to the level of some image we want to show to the world? Is it just because someone we know is at that level?!

When have we stopped and wondered if our values are the same as others? What are our values?

Which is it? More free time or stability?

Are you a person who can dedicate much of his time to doing something continuously and with discipline to get the stability she want? Is that your answer?

Because, if you’re enjoying to have more free time, being able to take long walks, watching Netflix, but you put in all that long hours just because your friend does it and you have to prove to him you’re as good as him… I don’t think you’ll experience much day-to-day joy. And I think we can all agree that we can spot the difference between someone doing something and loving it because he Knows who he is and what he likes and someone else who is struggling with it.

Try it! Get to know yourself!

What have you discovered about yourself?

  1. Hey, Helen! What a great topic you opened here! Love it!❤️
In regards of descovering who we are as individuals and living the best life we can in our truth, I have to say that It came to me late in life because nobody ever told me I can do that!!!! How incredible is that!,…,?
Not my family, neither my teachers… Well, maybe my filosophy teacher, but I did not undertand him at that time…

Unfortunately, most of us, we are taught to : have a propper or good education, a wellpaid job, have at least enough money to live a decent life, have kids, buuild a house, plant a tree, take care of oldones in the family, then… Die!… 😁😅🤷‍♀️

… Sorry, i am being a bit cruel, but not many people are taught about meaning, purpose, values, own value, uniqness… These are New Terms and they are great, but only nowerdays we learn how to put them into practice.
After a long look at myself and after I remembered what I really loved doing when being a child, I rediscovered my uniqness in being good with people, comunicating, writing and talking to/for people in order to help them! So I started doing more of that in a conscious way, and I got better of that every day…
Being aware of my skills, my joys and my values got me on the right track and I feel more fullfiled then ever!
Helping others to discover themselves is what we could do to help them live More and Better…
    Happy to write to you!

    1. Well, Mimi, it’s true that we were not taught this, but you see, there are many people like you or like me who took the time and really got to know themselves and their uniqueness. I really hope we can “spread the word” and do more for us and for everyone out there looking for ways to get through it all!
      Thank you for your reply!
It brings me hope that we’ll build a community of light-minded people and grow together!
