TEENAGERS…WATCHOUT FOR THIS

There are so many ways in which our self-esteem can be threatened by others behaviours that, sometimes, it scares me to think that we, as parents, would need another 24 hours and a good relationship with our child, to be able to point such things out to our children and that…we don’t have another +24hours a day, right?!

Then there is something else … busy as we are, going through our day-to-day life, it’s hard for us to even learn for ourselves all there is to know about behaviors that we came across, that bothered us, that made us feel small and insignificant.

So, I figured…as long as I took the time and researched these subject, I m8ght as well share with you what I’ve learned, in hope that it might help someone else too…

There are manu types of emotional abuse that we should know about, gaslighting being one of them.

I choose this first, as we all are in online, in some kind of way, and for a good amount of time and the online medium makes it easy for this kind of behavior to be displayed.

SOO

Gaslighting is defined as being a form of emotional abuse in which one party manipulates another into doubting their thoughts, feelings, judgments, perceptions, and/or memories. The goal is to undermine self-confidence by creating doubt, and causing a lost sense of identity, perception and of worth while accepting the reality depicted by the gaslighter.

If you want to have a quick look of what are the types of gaslighting that threatens our emotional beeing, watch this short video.
